A site must have at least one host. A site may have multiple hosts. The host configuration defines the host domain, the traffic type, the origin where the content is found, and rules for processing requests and serving content. Optionally, it can define access control lists (ACLs). When a site configuration includes multiple hosts, make sure that all the hosts define the same traffic type.
To create a site host:
- Navigate to the My Media Sites page and select the site.
- On the Media Site Configuration tab, scroll to the Hosts area and select Add Host.
- In the Add Host dialog:
- Enter the Host Domain. For example, acme-sports-vod.com.
- Select the Traffic Type: Vod, Live, Low Latency Live, or Software Downloads. If your site has multiple hosts, each host must define the same traffic type.
- Optionally, enter any string in the Service ID field. This is an optional parameter you can use to tag a delivery service for your own purposes.
- Optionally, enter the Origin information. (Alternatively, add the mandatory host origin later, as described in Configure a Host or Path Origin.)
- From the Protocol list, choose the protocol you want to use to communicate with the origin (HTTP or HTTPS).
- In the Hostname field, enter the origin host domain. For example, origin.example_acme.com. (You can further configure the origin later.)
- Select Add Host.
The host appears in the Hosts area of the Media Configuration tab.
To edit or delete a host, select the More icon and select Edit Host or Delete.
