Navigate to the *Add* or *Edit Origin* dialog as described in [*Configure a Host or Path Origin*](/v1/docs/configure-a-host-or-path-origin). 2. In the Add or Edit Origin dialog, select **Single Origin**. 3. Optionally, select an origin authentication method, and then set the relevant parameters. To configure an Amazon S3 bucket as an origin, see [Configure an S3 Origin](/v1/docs/configure-an-s3-origin). 4. Select a protocol. 5. Enter the origin hostname. 6. Optionally, to override the host header value in requests to the origin, in the **Origin Host Header Override** field, enter the replacement header value. **Note:** When you override the host header for a site that uses the HTTPS protocol, you override both the header and the SNI value. 7. Optionally, use the **Connect Timeout** field to set the maximum allowed duration (in milliseconds) for connection with the origin server. 8. Optionally, use the **Read Timeout** field to set the maximum allowed duration (in milliseconds) for content acquisition from the origin. 9. Optionally, use the **Origin Retries** field to enable a specified number of retries if the initial connect or read attempt fails. The retry default is zero. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/fa039225-513b-46a1-ba78-a57a1f1cb7c6/Images/Documentation/singleOriginNewUI.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-27T17%3A36%3A00Z&se=2026-10-27T18%3A36%3A00Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=sjlSPWs1tJY5VLSEIXeZT6%2BNhZV30CFUtTDshqOCQjQ%3D) 10.
