Article summary

You can configure multiple origins that operate using round robin load balancing. The CDN cycles visitor requests through the list of origins. This distributes the load more evenly across all the available origin servers.

Configure

To configure a list of origins that will be used round robin style:

  1. Navigate to the Add or Edit Origin dialog as described in Configure a Host or Path Origin.
  2.  In the Add or Edit Origin dialog, select Round Robin List.
  3.  Select a protocol.
  4.  Optionally, to override the host header value in requests to the origin, in the Origin Host Header Override field, enter the replacement header value.
Note: When you override the host header for a site that uses the HTTPS protocol, you override both the header and the SNI value.
  5. Optionally, use the Connect Timeout field to set the maximum allowed duration (in milliseconds) for connection with the origin.
  6. Optionally, use the Read Timeout field to set the maximum allowed duration (in milliseconds) for content acquisition from the origin.
  7.  Optionally, use the Origin Retries field to enable a specified number of retries if the initial connect or read attempt fails. The retry default is zero.
  8. Optionally, select an Origin Authentication method, and enter the relevant details.
To configure an Amazon S3 bucket as an origin, see Configure an S3 Origin.
