When a client request includes CMCD data, the CDN extracts the Session ID (SID) from the CMCD data and logs it to the Media Delivery Log (MDL) file. The linkage allows mapping MDL data to player transactions, for enhanced analytics, performance insights, and troubleshooting.
Additionally, your Media Delivery site can be configured to trigger prefetch when the request contains the NOR field within the CMCD headers. Qwilt's NOR mechanism minimizes requests to the origin by using request collapsing for origin shielding. Enabling this feature requires configuration by Qwilt. Contact us at qwilt@support.com for further information.
CMCD can be sent with a custom HTTP request header or as an HTTP query argument. If both are enabled, the CDN processes only the HTTP headers.
